Executive Order

The documentary photography around the Manzanar Relocation Center creates a connection between U.S. history and contemporary issues involving visual images such as war, the aesthetic stance, and policy. Manzanar was photographed by Dorothea Lange, Ansel Adams, and Toyo Miyatake. All three documented the camp and its people, but each did so from a very different standpoint or motivation.
